Other Dental Treatments

Our Toronto Dental office offers a full range of dental services and treatments that may be useful to and required by our patients.  These include;

Digital Radiography

The use of digital radiography is beneficial to both the patient and the dental provider for many reasons. Most importantly, digital radiography allows us to capture the x-rays we need to diagnose and treat dental concerns with only a small fraction of the radiation delivered by conventional dental radiography. As well, the x-ray appears immediately on the computer monitor, eliminating the additional time required to manually develop the film. The increased size of the x-ray, which can fit the entire computer screen, allows an incredibly accurate view of the area being examined.

Intraoral Cameras and Digital Imaging

In order to enable you to see exactly what we see during your examination, our office offers intraoral cameras and digital imaging. Intraoral cameras allow the dental provider to take a picture of a tooth or an area of your mouth and the image appears in full size on the chairside computer monitor. This allows our patients the opportunity to fully visualize issues that may be revealed upon examination.

Mouthguards, Bruxism (grinding) Appliances and Sportsguards

‘An ounce of prevention’. These custom appliances are fabricated for various reasons, always with the goal of reducing or eliminating the need for future dental treatment. Many people grind or clench their jaws and teeth, often in their sleep, which can lead to tooth fracture, periodontal (gum) issues and pain in the jaw joint. Custom mouthguards can eliminate snoring and other habits. Sportguards can reduce injury to teeth, decrease the risk of concussion and, in some cases, enhance performance.

Endodontic (root canal) Treatment

When the nerve in a tooth sustains injury or is damaged by dental decay, it may require removal by Endodontic (root canal) treatment. Endodontic treatment allows us to save the affected tooth, despite the loss of its nerve.

Extraction (tooth removal)

Sometimes a tooth sustains damage or injury to the point where it is no longer salvageable. In some cases, such as some wisdom teeth and retained primary teeth, a tooth can be causing issues in other parts of the mouth. When extraction is indicated the service can usually be performed in our office.  Missing teeth can then be replaced by several restorative options.  Refer to the Restorative Dentistry page.
